Poll: most residents rely on insurers, few - on fast credit companies

A representative public opinion poll revealed that the majority of Lithuanian residents expressed their trust to insurance companies. Contrary, people do not trust fast credit companies.

Two thirds of respondents (65 %) fully or rather trust insurance companies. The lack of confidence or lack of confidence in part indicated 16 % of residents. Another 19 % did not express their opinion on the matter. Trust is generally based on the fact that insurance companies pay for loss and damage (25 % of respondents acknowledged that). The most frequently mentioned reason for distrust is loss accumulation life insurance (20 % of respondents acknowledged that, 14 % mentioned small insurance premiums).

46 % of survey respondents completely or rather trust commercial banks. Total or partial lack of confidence expressed 42 % of them, while 12 % did not have an opinion. Every fifth of those who trust banks said that they did not encounter problems while using services, 16 % stated that they simply have no other alternative. Distrust of commercial banks is linked to the pricing of banking services: large bank fees (such reason stated 22 %), new taxes and limits (10 %).

Confidence in the second pillar pension funds have expressed 40 %, while the opposite opinion is shared by 26 % of respondents. One third of the residents did not have any view on such pension funds. 28 % of those who trust second pillar pension funds pointed out that their trust is based on future assistance and incomes in old age. The most commonly mentioned reasons for mistrust - insecurity and fear of bankruptcy (indicated by 30 %).

More than two thirds of respondents (67 %) do not trust fast credit companies. Mostly indicated reasons of mistrust - high interest rates and the fact that while taking these credits many people become indebted, especially young people. 12 % of respondents as a big problem mentioned the process of loans distribution, which is basically without limits.
